Former Genk striker Bob Peeters believes AC Milan want to get ahead of the competition to sign Konstantinos Karetsas.
Milan have currently been left with a power vacuum after last week’s bombshell announcement that Massimiliano Allegri, Igli Tare, Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada had all been dismissed from their roles following the late-season collapse.

However, there is still a need to add fresh faces to the squad once the new directors are in place. If Ralf Rangnick were to take the reins, it is possible that he would look to continue the interest in Karetsas, a talent the Rossoneri have been coveting for a long time.
In an exclusive interview with MilanNews journalist Alessandro Schiavone, former Belgian international and Genk striker Bob Peeters spoke about Karetsas and the talk that Milan are keen on landing him.
What do you think of Milan’s interest in Karetsas? Is he ready to handle the weight of a club like Milan?
“I think Karetsas is an excellent player. He’s young, talented, and I think he has the potential to play for Milan. However, if you ask me whether he’d already be a regular starter for the Rossoneri, I have some doubts.
“I think he could be a player capable of making an impact by joining the rotation. In a year or two, however, he can definitely become a starter both in Serie A and for Milan.”
So would it be an investment worth making now?
“I think this is Milan’s plan: to get him now because, if they wait another year or two, his price will rise significantly. If they manage to acquire him now and develop him over the next two seasons, they will have a truly, very strong player on their hands.”
Does he remind you of any former Belgian players? He’s a player who always seems to find the right space for the final pass. Last season, he recorded 18 assists in all competitions, while Kevin De Bruyne managed 15 in his last season at Genk (2011-12). He’s very promising…
“He’s a very technical, quick, and agile player. De Bruyne was more of a sprinter and physical player, as well as one of the best assist-getters in Premier League history.”
Comparisons are always difficult, but both have the ability to break down opponents’ lines…
“Yes, Karetsas can also break down lines. He’s very good one-on-one, has great vision, and an excellent final pass. He can also score, but in my opinion, that’s not his main quality.
“His real strength is his technique: he knows how to protect and control the ball, making life very difficult for his opponents.”

A midget from the Belgian league. Hard no.
Yes, getting another wonderkid from the Belgian league is exactly what Milan needs right about now. I mean, De Ketelaere and Jashari have been huge hits at San Siro so let’s continue this trend. Keep them coming!
He’s not your regular Jashari or De Kaetelare by the way. Former was already 23 upon acquisition by Milan and latter was 21. Plus, he’s not from Brugge.
This guy is just 18 and is already ahead of both in development.
I’d get Kostov instead, before Arsenal or City pick him up…
Just get him. He is clearly the next big thing.
Greece: 10 games, 3 goals
Genk: 34 games, 11 assists
They have to give him a starter role straight away though. Otherwise no point in ruining another career.
+ stats from Europa League:
11 games, 2 goals, 5 assists
Crazy.
So, please remind us again exactly WHO in Milan are interested in him? Because last time I checked, there were no one working at the office. 😀 😀 😀
Zlatan? He’s off to the States for his far more important commentator sh1t. 💩
This guy looks class. Worth the investment. Remember him against Scotland for greece.
We don’t give youngsters a chance to shine due to pressure and inpatience. We also don’t have a great record of spending big from Belgian league. If we are after a creative player we should try to bring back Brahim Diaz or Charles de ketelaare. Both have matured and are solid players. If leao goes we should try to bring one of them back.
Diaz is exactly what he was and always will be. He will give 6-8 great games a season and look like a wimp in the rest. CDK isn’t coming back. Lauriente is the obvious replacement for Leao and he’d be cheap.
