Pellegatti: Scuffet negotiations abandoned as Milan promote Torriani – the latest

By Isak Möller -

Lorenzo Torriani was one of the exclamation points during AC Milan’s pre-season tour in the US, playing every game from start to finish due to Marco Sportiello’s injury. Now, according to a report, he has been promoted.

Sportiello injured his hand in the hotel prior to the game against Man City, forced to undergo surgery a few days later. He will thus be out of action for two-three months and Milan immediately started looking for a replacement on the mercato.

However, these links have certainly cooled down in the last few days and there is a reason for that. According to Carlo Pellegatti, speaking about the matter as cited by Il Garante, Milan have decided to abandon the negotiations with Cagliari over Simone Scuffet.

“Here’s the news: Scuffet shouldn’t arrive. The deal was set to be closed, then interrupted, and now Scuffet shouldn’t be brought to Milan. Torriani, and I’m very happy, has been promoted to third goalkeeper. But today, he’s the second goalkeeper waiting for Sportiello,” he stated.

Torriani will remain the second choice behind Mike Maignan, in other words, and it certainly makes sense as the Rossoneri have great depth in that position. In addition to Torriani, they also have Lapo Nava and Noah Raveyre.
