This weekend, AC Milan lost again. They failed to score and they failed to really deliver any threat of scoring at all. A worrying performance.
As we head towards the finishing line, Massimiliano Allegri must employ some of that Corto Muso style. His team are making things difficult and they need to get their noses in front if they want to play Champions League football next season.
They are still likely to do so, but you’d be lying if you said you were confident or calm about their chances. Indeed, Milan are crumbling a little bit and whilst their reinforcements in the summer are needed, they must get through this final furlong with the players available.
Worrying performance
Unfortunately for Allegri, that means relying on strikers who are being outperformed, in some ways, by a central defender. Indeed, his attacking options are limited and they are not showing signs of change.
This evening, Carlo Pellegatti took a chance to review the current situation. The words on his YouTube channel have been relayed by MilanNews.
“Today, AC Milan is an empty vessel. The defeat against Sassuolo highlighted a malaise that has been dragging us along for five games. One goal in the last five, four points out of 15. If you were a horse, you’d have to take it to the field.
“The shortcomings in Reggio Emilia were evident in every aspect: maneuverability, play, physique. AC Milan is in a total crisis, we don’t know what initiatives Allegri will take to try to stop this hemorrhage of play and individuals: today, even by changing the attackers, there isn’t a single player who can reach a passing grade.”
So, his answer is more of the same. LOL
Making changes in the last 30 minutes of a team up by 2 while down a man – not sure what miracles were expected of the subs that came in then or after.
The subs didn’t work any miracles, true. But when has this offensive scheme allowed for any creativity against a parked bus?

Allegri has dipped both of his legs into this attacking scheme (i.e. two up front) that he will never back down until he is fired.
