Pellegatti confirms Maignan’s salary demands and urges Milan to ‘decide now’

Carlo Pellegatti has confirmed the reports circulating regarding Mike Maignan’s salary requests to renew, and he believes that the amount is correct for a player of his quality.

Maignan is one of the undisputed leaders of this Milan team and he is also one of the best players in the world in his position. It is for this reason one of the priorities among the management at present is his contract renewal.

Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reported yesterday that the goalkeeper wants €8m net per season to renew his current deal which expires in 2026. Given he earns €2.8m per year, it leaves the management with a decision to make as he would become the highest paid squad member.

Pellegatti spoke during the ‘Filo Rossonero’ segment on Radio Rossonera about a number of topics from the game against Atalanta to Gerry Cardinale’s visits to the Middle East. He also spoke about Maignan’s potentially difficult renewal.

“I confirm that the agents’ request is starting from 8 million, which is the right figure for me. Maignan is one of the top 3, 4 or 5 in the world. And his competitors in the race for the best in the world all receive these very high figures,” he said.

“It would be right in his last contract to give him these figures. Otherwise we’ll start evaluating the sale. But you have to decide now, don’t drag it out. The role is too delicate, he is a particular character.”
