Pellegatti gives updates on Frattesi, Guler, Thuram and Chukwueze pursuits

Journalist Carlo Pellegatti has given some interesting updates on a number of different targets that AC Milan are reportedly pursuing.

Pellegatti spoke during a segment on Radio Rossonera‘s show and he began by discussing striker Marcus Thuram, who Milan have made an offer for but are currently still waiting for a reply from it seems.

“We await his response, hoping not to wait for it for so long. Had the news that the player’s entourage asked for a salary of 10 million euros been confirmed, Leipzig would have said no,” Pellegatti said.

“Another indiscretion that reached me says that his father would like to push him to PSG, while he would like Milan. It is always better to reiterate that absolutely nothing comes out of Casa Milan, and therefore to say that these speculations of ours are the result of indiscretions.

“It used to be nice, from Casa Milan we knew the players who absolutely wouldn’t arrive, while for the others it was a ‘let’s see’. We work with sensations and hypotheses and in this sense the feeling is this: the first purchases will be free or on loan.

“I don’t see Milan starting the transfer market session with Chukwueze, or in any case with players who command a fairly sizeable outlay of money. Those, and it’s always my hypothesis, will arrive at Milan in the second phase of the transfer market. Trident Leao-Thuram-Chukwueze? Today it is a wish.”

There continues to be strong speculation from a number of sources that Milan have a serious interest in signing Arda Güler from Fenerbahce this summer. The 18-year-old can play as a right winger or as a playmaker, which ticks two boxes after Brahim Diaz’s exit.

“Arda Guler is a player Milan are working on, but he’s a player many teams are working on. Such an 18-year-old talent had to be discovered – and it’s not easy – two years earlier… even if at 16 a player can be everything and nothing,” Pellegatti added.

“I know that there are many clubs on Arda Guler, not just Milan, and the transfer market news of the last few hours is that his father would like some very expensive commissions for the transfer.

“Arda Guler’s name warmed up the fans and warmed me up too, they’re right! These talents fascinate me a lot, it would also be a way of saying to the other European clubs we are Milan and we win the competition.”

Pellegatti was also asked about the comparison between Thuram and Randal Kolo Muani, who was heavily linked with a move to the Rossoneri last summer when he left FC Nantes on a free but chose Eintracht Frankfurt and exploded there.

“We know that Milan are interested in a striker, a right winger, a No.10 and a midfielder. With Thuram and Kamada, 2 out of 4 of these purchases would arrive, which are essential for Milan.

“Thuram’s name is the only one at the moment because nothing is known about the alternatives. And then I want to say one thing: if Thuram is interested in Milan, fine, otherwise another will arrive.

“The same thing happened with Kolo Muani, he was uncertain between Eintracht Frankfurt and Milan… Maldini said ‘thank you, it was nice’ and off we went. Alternative to Thuram? I have not the foggiest idea.”

Finally, Milan also continue to be mentioned as one of the possible destinations for Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi, along with a number of Serie A rivals too.

“Giovanni Carnevali speaking with his colleagues said that they are all in the running: Juventus, Roma and Inter. And you will say yes, well, but what about Milan?

“A meeting between Carnevali and Milan is scheduled for the week, a meeting that will allow the Rossoneri to compete with the other suitors.

“However, I would like to remind you that if Milan were to sign Chukwueze at €20/25m and Frattesi at €30/35m, it would reach €60m spent, and it seems difficult for Milan to pull out of a transfer market before making any sales. I hope so, but it seems difficult to me.”

    1. Selling Tonali would leave a huge gap in the midfield and would require plenty of $$$s to replace him. And who would/could we buy? Someone who takes 1-2 seasons to be ready? LOL. Nope. Not an option. SMS? Wrong position. Frattesi? Well, who’s gonna replace Benny then? Lots of questions IF Tonali were to be sold. And in other news, Milan has told Newcastle they want at least 80M€ for Tonali.

    1. Hahahaha 😂😂😂
I get the same vibe as well

Sorry wrong comment below, but probably just as applicable 🤭

  1. “The same thing happened with Kolo Muani, he was uncertain between Eintracht Frankfurt and Milan… Maldini said ‘thank you, it was nice’ and off we went.”

    Interesting.
People were making fun when Furlani and Pioli couldn’t hijack for months already agreed Nd!cka deal last week and they were saying without Maldini we can’t even beat Roma for a player, but we couldn’t even beat Eintracht Frankfurt for a player even with the irresistible charm and persuasiveness by Paolo Maldini.

  2. This article has a lot of insight that is usually not offered up by media during the mercato. Basically, we don’t know probably 80% of what is actually going on and most of the conclusions we have based off the 20% we do know are bound to be way off base.

The way I see it now, as annoying as it has been to seem like we are in limbo since Maldini left and like we are waiting forever for an answer on Thuram, it will be more than worth it in the end.

We already have secured Daichi Kamada, attacking midfielder, on a free. He is 26 years old and currently valued on Transfermarkt at €30m.

If we end up getting Marcus Thuram, center forward, on a free? He is 25 years old and currently valued on Transfermarkt at €32m.

Those two transfers alone would make a huge difference in Milan having a successful mercato. It isn’t worth letting the frustration of information from the media make fans lose focus of that fact.

If for a second we assume that is how things play out, then Milan are in great position to fill the other two priorities — right wing and central midfield.

Samuel Chukwueze, right winger, 24 years old for a possible fee in the region of €25m-30m. Currently valued on Transfermarkt at €25m.

    and

Morten Hjulmand, central midfielder, 23 years old for a possible fee in the region of €20m. Currently valued on Transfermarkt at €15m.

    or

Lazar Samardzic, central midfielder, 21 years old for a possible fee in the region of €20m. Currently valued on Transfermarkt at €14m.

Anyways… if we play out the scenario where Milan end up with the 2 free transfers of Kamada and Thuram, we could easily see a summer mercato where the 4 priority positions are addressed with additions that are all 26 years old or younger, cost around a total of €45m-50m in transfer fees, and bring a value (imperfectly measured by the numbers from Transfermarkt) of around €102m.

That is EXTREMELY promising and very possible! We just must remain patient and have some faith in Moncada/Furlani.
