Mike Maignan has just a year left on his AC Milan contract, and there is a very real chance that he could depart for nothing.
This summer, it seemed like Milan were going to lose Maignan; they even had a request from the Frenchman to allow a move to Chelsea. However, the two clubs could not agree on a fee, and the goalkeeper remained.

Though this could be part of a bigger idea, it seems. Rather than allowing Maignan to walk away, the Rossoneri hope to give him a new contract and extend his stay. In fact, the idea has already been passed to the shot-stopper.
Enjoy it
There is a big caveat, though, it relies on the Diavolo reaching the Champions League and looking like they can compete at a top level. So far, it is debatable whether we have seen that. Additionally, relations have to be salvaged.

The reasons probably stack against staying right now, and Carlo Pellegatti has reinforced those fears, as PianetaMilan shares.
“Yesterday, we had a chat with the AC Milan management. Nothing official, but they made it clear that we need to enjoy Maignan this year. I think a renewal will be very difficult. He was offended by what happened last season, but he’ll still give everything for AC Milan.”

He should have been sold for yet another capital gain.
We obviously had a number in mind, Chelsea didn’t meet it. I think that’s their loss potentially. I don’t see him staying though, a decent season and World Cup will give him a huge payday somewhere.
It’s pretty obvious that he won’t stay. Mike is a true professional and he is ambitious. The exact opposite of the management. As if it wasn’t enough, there are those reports about Furlani lying to him about his contract extension. Maybe Torriani will have his shot.
I really hope they give Torriani some game time and make him feel important, as you said Maignan will probably leave and it would be wonderful to have a home grown player as his long term successor.
Sure, management aren’t ambitious. That’s why they keep spending vast amounts of money.
Dude are you serious. We had to sell off all our assets to spend anything. You’re love for Gerry is blinding.
We finished the window with a 9 million euro in surpluses in transfer fees not including the future possible sales in loaned players. The club declared profits 3 years straight so clearly they haven’t spent a dime out of pocket on our playing roster. They are recirculating assets, not spending money. Some people don’t look at the revenues vs expenses.
u can spend billions on junk, overhyped & retiring players doesn’t mean u wanna be champion,
yes they are ambitious.. to be money maker, u can’t win F1 w/ Fiat
I think Max’s real mission this season is to convince Mike to stay. Suzuki is a poor option to replace him with …
I hope he stay to the end contract and then go free.
Our owners deserved that. I hope every player will do same. 😁😄
Should have bought Milinkovic-Savic when he was still available.
Another mess created and engineered by furlani …. what a clever guy!!!
