Pellegatti claims Milan are interested in OGC Nice striker: “They are watching him”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are looking at potential options to come in and be the centre-forward of the future and they are following an OGC Nice star, according to Carlo Pellegatti.

There has been a lot of speculation about Jonathan David of Lille in recent days. A report from La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Milan evaluated him in June and July when his price was €60m and saw a loan bid late in the window rejected.

Nonetheless, they added that the management will try again in the coming months because they believe they can get the Canada international next summer, something Calciomercato.com also relayed.

Pellegatti spoke during an interview with Radio Rossonera and he began by addressing the rumours linking Milan with a move for David, while he then went on to speak about a player he knows that the club are watching closely.

“So, I would like to inquire personally. Not because I don’t trust you, but out of lust I would like them to tell me too. Because two things about this player don’t convince me,” he said.

“One is the height, 1.75m. That the next Milan centre-forward in this type of football who must eventually replace Giroud has totally different characteristics like Noah Okafor, well, leaves me perplexed.

“And then, I agree that his contract expires in 2025, but this will not give you a player valued at €50-60m euros for €20m.

“Instead, I know that Milan will follow and is already following, trust me, my idol Terem Moffi. 1.88m tall, costs €25m and Nice is a shop where you can discuss.

“There I give you for sure that they are watching him and maybe they will try. I know it because I know it. I read about David, but I would be more sure if they confirmed it to me.”

Moffi is 24 years of age and he has 10 goals and 4 assists in 24 appearances overall for Nice, having netted 35 times in 90 games for FC Lorient before.

    1. He’s already priced at €40.00m on transfermarkt and likely to go higher. There’s a premiun for that Thuram name, amd he’s already very very good and too well known.
Milan’s current transfer policy seems focused on keeping purchases below €25.00m and searching for fallen angels and rummaging through the bargain basement bins

      1. Same as Jonathan, his contract will expire at 2025 as well. Seems like a fit to our transfer strategy which aiming players in their last year of contract. But yes, he’ll still be expensive. One can dream.
