Pellegatti and Zirkzee

Pellegatti urges Milan to sign Zirkzee in January as Man Utd fans ‘hate him’

Joshua Zirkzee has had a tough start to life at Manchester United and if Carlo Pellegatti had his way, as revealed during a podcast recently, AC Milan would make a move in January.

Milan were heavily linked with Zirkzee prior to his move to Man Utd, carrying out advanced negotiations with his agent Kia Joorabchian. In the end, the Red Devils were willing to pay more for the player – around €40m plus bonuses and commission – and Zirkzee signed the contract.

However, after 16 appearances in all competitions, the Dutchman only has one goal and two assists. Speaking on the podcast ‘CRONACHE DI SPOGLIATOIO’, the Milanb pundit and journalist Carlo Pellegatti suggested that his career at Man Utd is over and that the Rossoneri should make a move.

“You know who I would take in January? Zirkzee. If Adriano Galliani was still at Milan, then he [Zirkzee] would already be here. Without spending money. Manchester wants to get rid of him. They hate him, he’s overweight. He has finished his career at Manchester. That’s what happened with Balotelli and Ibra,” he stated.

Seeing as Luka Jovic looks destined to leave the club in January, Milan might look at the striker market in January. On the other hand, they already have Alvaro Morata, Tammy Abraham and Francesco Camarda for the No.9 role. If Zirkzee were to play like a No.10 of sorts, though…

  1. Sure. Offer ManUn 10 MEuro and Z’s agent 0.5 MEuro. If they accept these numbers, then yes, for this overrated one-season wonder; I guess at least he’s better than Jovic (maybe). Also get from the agent a document saying that upon contract renewal if one ever happens, he will not ask for more than 1M Euro.

These conditions are not likely to be accepted; then, hard pass.

  2. No thanks. Average, overrated and overpriced. I would take Brahim Diaz back from Real Madrid though. If we get Diaz and Nico Paz from Real Madrid in January and next summer I would be happy for sure. Zirkzee didn’t want Milan or else he would have made his agent get the deal done. He choose Man United instead.

I hope he enjoys his time at Man United. Smh

    1. I would also love to have Brahim back and he would like it too. He loves Milan. But he is getting more and more playing time with Real and has been praised by Ancelotti so I think it is very unlikely that they will agree with sending him back to us, given that they correctly deem him to be a helpful player for their squad.

As for Zirkzee, what a mistake this young man has made when he turned us down and accepted United, the cemetery where careers die! Now he is paying the consequence for this blunder, and even though I pity the fact that he is young and inexperienced and probably was fooled by the greedy agent, I can’t help but have half a smile when I see that as anybody could have anticipated, a transfer to United backfired on Z.

That was to our benefit; I much prefer having Morata than Zirkzee, and I don’t want his greedy agent any close to Milan, as any big fee paid to his agent would damage future negotiations for renewals and purchases, given that other agents for other players would see that and want the same.

Besides, like you said, Z is clearly overrated. He had ONE good season with Bologna, and the fact that Thiago Motta didn’t want him at Juve says it all. Who would know him better than Motta? The very talented coach who developed him and fostered from him a good season, ultimately doesn’t think he is worth keeping. Whoa. That is very disqualifying for Zirkzee.

Like I said, if it’s a big bargain and his agent accepts a minimum fee, then yes; he’d be a decent back-up (maybe) and likely less bad than our current backups, Abraham, a loanee who hasn’t done much, and Jovic who is very limited. But that’s it; I’d not pay any more than what a backup would command, that is, at most 10MEuro and not more than 0.5MEuro for his agent.

    2. Sour Grapes…. why? Overpriced? Yes. Average? Not last year at Bologna. On a decent deal, totally worth it.

      Don’t let emotions cloud you.

        1. The original AdBlock started having this default setting allowing for certain so-called “responsible ads” through.
So I don’t ever use it anymore (although you can turn this setting off).
Is that the adblocker you are using?
Most browsers also have a setting that allows you to stop popus from happening automatically.

    1. You need an adblocker on your browser.
Adguard works well for Chrome and most all other browsers.
Ublock Origin for Firefox and Edge (Chrome screwed this one up)

If trying to watch Youtube videos on your computer browser without ads, you need a special stealth ad masker/blocker called AdNauseum (on Firefox), which fools Youtube into thinking you are watching their ads. Youtube has started to very aggressively go after people who use adblockers on their browser to avoid watching their stupid ads on Youtube videos – after a certain period of time, Youtube will sense that you have an adblocker on and you need AdNauseaum, which works by sending Youtube the magic signals registering that you have watched the ad, while skipping over the ad so that you don’t actually have to watch it. Works great for now, eventually Youtube will figure this one out too, but right now, the advertisers are the ones getting screwed because youtube is registering to them that you have watched the ad, and is going to get paid for that by the advertiser.

  3. Zirkzee is a total donkey! Don’t do it!

His only goal, he slid in and got a lucky toe poke onto a ball that was headed right to Scott McTominay, who would have scored anyway.

Both of his assists were TERRIBLE shots that went wide and happened to run into the path of someone making the far post run. Didn’t deserve either one.

The worst thing about him, and the main reason United fans HATE him (and we DO), is that on TWO separate occasions, he has run in to put “the final touch” on a ball that was already going into the goal, and on both occasions, the goal was chalked-off because Zirkzee was offside! One cost us a win (2 points) and the other cost us a draw.

If Milan pay 5 Euros for him, they overpaid.

  4. Our management was wise to avoid him, or maybe not wise to have even considered him. Although Manchester Utd has a habit to make even wonders fail.
In any case, we don’t need him. We need a striker who can actually score in bunches. Morata is a good player but plays too deep and needs 10 chances to score once, Abraham has a poor finishing and a poor weak foot and Jovic isn’t that player either.

    1. But he’s unwanted and overweight, therefore Milan must jump on this opportunity. I mean just because they dodged that bullet once doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t step into its path again, right?

      1. It’s insane. He’d take a totally out of form player and give him minutes to get in shape. Then united is free to sell him to whoever in the summer.
        Dumb pellegatti.

We don’t even need a ST.

  5. I’m not sure where the criticism comes from.

Last summer everyone was on board signing him. EVERYONE. Then the media made up the story about kia and the commissions he asked for. Then I think it was Zlatan who came out and said they decided to pivot from spending 40mil on one player to spreading it over several.

Everyone knew ManUtd is a dumpster fire and that it likely would be a bad move. And it turned out to be. But Zee is the same player that was stellar at Bologna. But because he ended up in England instead of Milan egos became fragile and suddenly he’s trash?

    Come on…..

    1. Is he? And what exactly does Ze bring to Milan? We don’t need him.
We don’t need him at ST (already got strikers who can’t score) and we don’t need him on AM (I’d much rather see zeroli there) We don’t need him on the bench.

      1. What do you mean? He’s does Morata’s job, but he’s younger and quicker (when not oveweight). Morata can’t play every game. What’s the alternative? Tammy? He’d sooner get injured than score…

Tammy and Jovic aren’t the answer. Zee is worth a shot on favorable terms …

        1. Morata can play ever game and we don’t need a sub for morata we need an alternative.
That’s why our team is so fúcked. We keep piling the same type of players in.
Fùck feel. In that case raspadori is a better idea.
Also jovic definitely is the answer. He’s been solid so far

    2. Everyone? No, it wasn’t. Go back and read some posts. I, along with some others, were completely against the idea. He isn’t a great striker—never was, and never will be.

  6. If they’re really going for him then we really need to think about how he fits in with our current system….which basically we don’t have one anyway. However he plays best as a facilitator in a 4231 being up top. He has great linkup play but as others said is not an out and out striker..and I also think that is what we need. However I do know management is also cheap and won’t go for a striker that is prolific because it costs too much.

      1. OK, but please explain this to me: why didn’t Thiago Motta want him at Juve? To me, this is almost disqualifying. Motta knows Zirkzee very well, so what does he know about Z that we don’t and is detrimental? Motta got to Juve with carte blanche and could perfectly have said “I want Zirkzee.” Still, he wasn’t interested at all. Doesn’t this say something?

        1. Juve had other plans and more pressing needs, namely midfield and had committed to D. Luiz and Koop. Vlahovic was already there. They weren’t going to spend 40mil on Zee.

  7. We can go even further. Yesterday game. If we had zirkzee in the team (bench or field) what difference would it make?
    None.
That’s why we don’t need him.

  8. Only if he’s agent pay us some millions. No! Don’t take him! We have Francesco Camarda and we need to take care of our boy first 🙂
