Joshua Zirkzee of Manchester United

Pellegatti suggests Milan should try for Zirkzee loan and Man Utd would be willing

Carlo Pellegatti has suggested that AC Milan should try again for Joshua Zirkzee, even claiming that Manchester United might consider letting him go on loan.

In an exclusive back in July we pieced together the full background on the Zirkzee saga and why things turned from looking like he was set to sign for Milan to him ending up at United, and with the Rossoneri signing Alvaro Morata instead.

The main reason behind the U-turn was regarding the commissions that Zirkzee’s entourage were requesting, demands that the Premier League side were more willing to pay while Milan set a more principled stance.

However, fast forward to mid-October and the Dutchman is so far not setting the world alight at Old Trafford. He scored on his debut against Fulham but has not scored since, leading to suggestions a loan might be considered.

Pellegatti spoke on his YouTube channel about the possible moves that the management may make in January and the journalist claimed that a loan move for Zirkzee could be successful.

“You have to sign Zirkzee in January. Here’s why: they don’t even want to see him anymore in Manchester. He was terrible against Aston Villa. Zirkzee had made it clear that he wasn’t ready for the Premier League, he wanted Milan, then the whole story of the commissions,” he said (via PianetaMilan).

“Today Zirkzee is an uncomfortable player. Allow me to say, I would like the management to pull a coup. Zirkzee should be signed on loan in January, they’ll give him to you. Next year there will still be some things to see in attack.

“Let’s leave Morata up front. Think of an attack with Pulisic, Leao, Zirkzee and Morata. Spectacle. We would return to San Siro and have fun. With Zirkzee the enthusiasm would return to the fans. These are proud moves that are worthy of Milan.”

  1. Not sure a player will excite me (a fan). A team identity that leads to consistency on the pitch excites me.

I’d like to see Fonseca build a team with a he talent he has. There is rather a lot of it. Then I’d like to see us invest in players to further the success of that team.

If that happens to be Zirkzee then spiffy.

  2. Sorry but I would rather get Nico Paz from Como. I doubt Man United will loan him out or sell him so quickly because that would mean they would have to sack Ten Hag who wanted Zirkzee.

Zirkzee got what he deserved at Man United. It was a move that was doomed to fail after having one decent season at Bologna. It would have made more sense to go to Milan to further his development.

    1. To be fair I could see a partnership Between Rasmus Højlund as the striker and Joshua Zirkzee as the Second Striker become a pretty prolific combination but that would also demand a change of formation for Man Utd.
In the end though I agree he made his choice so for now he will have to live with said choice.

    2. Milan is not just a stepping stone to the Premier League. AC Milan is more prestigious than any team in the Premier League. It’s unfair to suggest that players should go to Manchester United before coming to Milan.

I also agree with Zirzkee that it’s disappointing to see a good player driven by financial gain.

  3. Thanks but no thanks (I mean, if this click bait nonsense had any ground on reality, I’d say, hard pass). He had one good season with Bologna. Overrated player. I’m glad we got Morata rather than Zirkzee and I’m glad that we didn’t allow his greedy agent to rob us.

Besides, our problem is definitely not the offense. We score enough goals. We drop points because we allow too many goals. Priorities should be LB, RB, DM, CB; not more forwards.

  4. Why would we give him an escape route out of manchester for a simple loan, especially after his agent was greedy. You should know if your going to man utd your most likely going to fail

  5. And who do you remove from the squad list to make space for him? Another non-Italian player.

We already have Jovic and cannot fit him on the UCL list.
Agree with the point made by others that attacking options is not our problem. We need to address issues in our midfield and defence.
We score enough goals. We concede goals like a team in the lower half of the table.

  6. As I have said since he was first linked to us, he is not what we need. Not a goal scorer and a terrible shooter, hes a creative player which we don’t need.

Give us a goal scorer and a solid DM, the same things we have looked for, for years.

Unfortunately we now also need a RB and CB given the mess made by selling Kalulu and Simic. Oh and as always a back up to Theo

  7. Agreed with most of the comments here. Zirkzee we can look at on loan, if no crazy commission or high loan fee, next summer when we lose Abraham+Jovic.

      1. It should say “agreed with most of the comments here”…

Then a space/line… then my own opinion of we can look at zirkzee on loan next summer if it’s viable, assuming we lose our other strikers.

But this sempremilan website keeps saying you’re posting too quickly, so after about the 5th attempt I just rushed it

  8. So let me see if I understand what Pellegatti is saying: Zirkzee sucks now, so it’s our chance? Wow. If a striker isn’t ready for the Prem, he isn’t ready for Milan, IMHO. Zirkzee is history. He and his “entourage” made their choice. Move on.
