Pioli likened to ‘Tchaikovsky’ and Milan’s performance against Napoli an ‘orchestra’

Carlo Pellegatti has likened AC Milan’s performance against Napoli on Sunday to an orchestra, with Stefano Pioli compared to the iconic Tchaikovsky.

Milan put in undoubtedly their best performance of the season right when they needed it most as they beat the runaway league leaders to go above Inter and into third place with the top four battle really heating up.

The first half showing was what set the tone as Rafael Leao opened the scoring with a delightful chip after some excellent work from Brahim Diaz, and the Spaniard turned from provider to scorer. Two more goals came in the second half as Leao got his second of the night and then Alexis Saelemaekers got a goal off the bench after a Messi-esque dribble.

Pellegatti spoke during his weekly column for MilanNews and it would be fair to say that he was impressed by the performance of the team on Sunday and the result they were able to obtain, but above all the manner it was done.

“Pëtr Il’ič Čajkovskiji, Pioli. The concert for violin and orchestra in D major, work 35. Made even more famous by the final scene of the film ‘The Concert’, which I would see a thousand times and I would be moved a thousand times,” he began.

“Conducting the orchestra Ismael Bennacer. First violin the inspired Rafa Leao. Brahim Diaz on the transverse flute, and Sandro Tonali on the double bass, the instrument that supports the entire orchestra. 100 minutes that should never have ended.

“A general belief has always asserted that, to express themselves at their best, Pioli’s Boys had to ‘go at maximum intensity and speed’. No, in Naples it was only the ball that sweated, as master Liedholm said.”

    1. @Nelli, I so so believe in this team. It’s either they’ve been Lazy or Fatigued. I hope we win the remaining games, and in the champs league too❤️🖤
