In recent days, talk about a new Head of Football arriving at AC Milan has been prominent and it seems like it won’t slow down.
For many, the need for a sporting director figure – or something of that ilk – is still a must. When the new management was announced, most were not convinced and even after a passable summer mercato, the feeling is that more was (and still is) needed.

So, having someone with more experience may be a good thing.
After all, having someone who knows the mercato inside out won’t be a bad thing. It’ll help with sales and strategising the right time to buy certain players, which was a struggle for Milan this summer.
Yet, it’s not really been a problem that was exclusive to the summer months of this year. Instead, it’s been a long-term thing.
Pellegatti praises Cardinale
Speaking on his YouTube channel this morning, Carlo Pellegatti looked at the situation with several names in the mix and MilanNews have relayed his comments.
“Gerry Cardinale clearly understood, as soon as the transfer window closed, the need for a head of football. Let’s just say he’s been in contact for several days now, with sporting directors and managers, and they’ve been lengthy.
“Gerry Cardinale has this habit, even with Amorim. The discussions before choosing him weren’t brief. In this sense, Gerry Cardinale perhaps acted a little instinctively when the entire technical and managerial staff was fired last May.”
So basically he fired everyone and had no plan in place. No head of sport for a 2bn sport-based asset. That’s ok though, he told everyone he has internal hires in mind all along but we all knew it was because no one wanted to jump aboard the sinking ship
