Pellegatti provides update on ‘asymptomatic’ Giroud and reveals likely replacement

Olivier Giroud tested positive for Covid-19 a few days ago and this means that he will miss the game against Lazio after the international break. It seems Stefano Pioli has identified the replacement for that clash.

According to Carlo Pellegatti, as cited by MilanLive, Giroud is ‘totally asymptomatic’ and hasn’t been in contact with his teammates since the Cagliari game. Milan are hoping that they can have him back for the game against Liverpool.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is back in training and has done well with the group, but Ante Rebic is expected to be the centre-forward for the game against Lazio. Ibrahimovic could make an appearance off the bench to get back into the groove.

It remains to be seen if Giroud will be back for the Liverpool clash and if he is, if he will be ahead of Ibrahimovic in the pecking order. Either way, Pioli has good options to rely on now unlike last season.
