Pellegatti reflects on ‘absent’ Milan performance vs. Parma: “There are no words”

AC Milan recorded their first loss of the 2024/25 Serie A season against Parma during the weekend and there have been several critics of their performance.

Perhaps the volume of the criticism would not have been as loud had Milan won their first game of the season against Torino. However, they did not, and the Rossoneri are staring a very dangerous situation in the face.

There is a 12-place gap between the Diavolo and the leaders, Inter, and this gap can be minimised quickly, but there is a level of worry around the club currently. Unfortunately for Paulo Fonseca, there are doubts about his ability to take this team forward, and conversations could begin if he cannot turn the fortunes of his team around.

Doing so will not be an easy job, especially considering the month that awaits Milan, and Carlo Pellegatti voiced his concerns about the current situation on his YouTube channel – his words have been relayed by Milan News.

“There are no words. I don’t remember such a performance. Milan absent. Team means organisation, harmony, precise, deliberate, rehearsed exchanges. I don’t remember something like that. Milan were not a team, but players lined up. Parma had the 2-on-1 7-8 times.

“This is not football, it could have ended 9-5. Parma appeared 1000 times in front of the goalkeeper. Fonseca has been working for a month and a half and I see nothing. The team is at the mercy of the opponent. A performance I really don’t remember. The least balanced Pioli in history has never taken these restarts. Milan has not been a collective.

“Now the troops have to settle down: maybe with a 4-3-3 more dense in midfield. Friends, there are no words. If we play against the big ones like this, the opposing coach says enough at half-time. There is a lot of work to be done. Right now they cannot be a collective. I am dismayed.”
