Pellegatti discusses renewal as some Milan high-ups ‘have always liked’ Conceicao

Sergio Conceicao’s future has been heavily discussed among the AC Milan fans lately and Carlo Pellegatti has now weighed in on the situation. As he said, a renewal wouldn’t surprise him.

Conceicao signed a six-month contract with an option for an additional year when he joined Milan in late December of last year. Despite the Supercoppa Italiana win, and the spot in the Coppa Italia final, a departure seems likely as the Rossoneri are in 9th place in the league.

Speaking about the situation on his YouTube channel, Pellegatti refused to rule out a renewal for the Portuguese manager as some club officials have always liked his methods. It might not matter in the end, but it’s something to consider as he puts it.

” I wouldn’t be surprised if things were to remain as before, without a sporting director and with Conceicao. This is because Conceicao’s work has always been liked by some high-ups at Milan, from his style of working and approach.

“And they had already told me: ‘But Conceicao isn’t so bad’. They could continue with him. I’m not telling you that it will be like this, but I would not be surprised,” he stated.

Gazzetta dello Sport also reported this morning that Milan might abandon their pursuit of a sporting director, keeping things as they are by defining the roles a bit more (for clarity). It seems unlikely for now, though, as it would be a massive U-turn on the last few weeks.

  1. I agree. He has proved himself to be a good coach. He needs preseason and next season to set the ball rolling after these five months. He knows Milan better after these six months and will be in a good position to do well next season. The best thing to ever happen with Sergio’s tenure this season is his ability to find the right balance with the 343/3421 system.

  2. Sergio Conceicao is a flexible coach who’s able to adapt to formation that suits the players at his disposal. He’s a winner of cup games. I hope we keep him for next season. Then, we can evaluate his works

  3. I wouldn’t be surprised either. Management is unlikely to be able to attract a better manager, and also probably incapable of properly identifying one anyway. No DS is also not surprising. So the chance that we start next season with the same people making the decisions and the same coach (unless he resigns) as we end this season is very high. I don’t think Conceicao is the right coach for us, but if he’s extend I won’t be too upset as we could do much worse.

  4. Gazzetta and the rest of the papers are anti-Milan.
Milan haven’t been feeding them any information recently, so they’ve turned to making shit up to sell papers.
    Shame on them.
