Carlo Pellegatti has revealed that he does not know which was the Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu soap operas will end as things stand.
It seems as though everything but the game tonight against Sassuolo is in the headlines as the media fallout related to the European Super League continues to rage on. Milan were one of the 12 clubs part of the initial movement but now seem to have dropped out.
Meanwhile, the headlines are also being taken up by the uncertainty that has been generated due to the fact both Donnarumma and Calhanoglu are less than 80 days from the expiry of their contract when they could walk away for free, with no renewal seemingly imminent.
Now, Pellegatti has spoken to MilanLive about the current situation regarding the Rossoneri’s objectives between now and the end of the season plus the latest on renewals.

“Another of the fundamental matches on the road to second place. I keep saying that for me the main goal of Milan today is the second place. The Scudetto is obviously impossible, unless Inter stop for the next 5 games. Clearly, the goal is the Champions League, but after a positive season I hope that Milan will aim to finish second, which would be another great goal of this season.”
A positive season, what was the secret of this continuity?
“We were uncertain about which Milan we would find in September, after the great final of last season, it was difficult to repeat ourselves, but we found the same Milan in June, July and August. A Milan that has continuity, play, game identity, proposition and many advantages ”
Do you think Calhanoglu and Donnarumma will eventually renew?
“Both are important renewals, very complicated. I don’t know how it will end with Donnarumma, Milan has made an offer and does not go up, Donnarumma has made a request and does not go down. If someone does not take a step towards the other at the moment this situation will stall. Unless Calhanoglu and Donnarumma go to talk to Milan, and today nobody talks.”
Is this tension linked to renewals reflected on the pitch with recent performances?
“Both seem quite calm, even if Calhanoglu has not yet reached pre-virus levels (before testing positive) and Donnarumma has not always been formidable. Good performance in Parma, but some uncertainty on Sunday against Genoa and in the other matches. It would seem serene, but perhaps it is not.”
