Pellegatti reveals why he was ‘much more worried’ after Spezia defeat rather than Inter loss

AC Milan deserve to be praised for their amazing season so far rather than criticised after Sunday’s derby defeat, according to Carlo Pellegatti.

The defeat means that Milan are now four points adrift of their rivals from across the Navigli and the trip to face Roma coming up all of a sudden becomes big for Champions League qualification.

Inter got off to the ideal start as they took the lead inside the first few minutes through Lautaro Martinez, and he doubled the advantage early in the second-half too from Ivan Perisic’s cut-back.

Samir Handanovic was in inspired form for the Nerazzurri and made several key saves to deny Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Sandro Tonali and later Hakan Calhanoglu, and Romelu Lukaku’s goal on the break to make it 3-0 would ultimately kill the game off.

Carlo Pellegatti spoke on his YouTube channel about the defeat against Inter, and chose to defend the team for their work done so far this season.

“Milan at the end of February, after playing two months without Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a month without their director Ismael Bennacer (with his absence which persists), having lost players or due to the pandemic or due to injuries, are second in the standings,” he said (via MilanNews).

“I don’t see all black and I’m close to the team. I was much more worried after the defeat against Spezia than after yesterday’s defeat, albeit more clearly in the result, against Inter. Now we are 4 points from the top, we forget the first place and go back to play to have fun. Milan are second at the end of February and must be applauded “.
