Pellegatti worried by Milan’s €30m summer budget: “We won’t get very far”

Carlo Pellegatti has voiced his concern over the transfer budget that the AC Milan directors will be given this summer.

There is a lot of work for Igli Tare and co. to do once the window reopens. After a streamlining of the squad ahead of a season without European football, the squad must be expanded well beyond the 19 outfield players that the Rossoneri went into 2025-26 with.

Therefore, it appears as though some investment will be required to bolster the group in terms of quality and quantity. The positions have already been written about: a top striker will be the headline signing, while a new midfielder, centre-back and wing-back will probably also arrive.

Pellegatti: Milan have €30m net budget

Pellegatti spoke in a video on his YouTube channel and he looked ahead to a summer window, one in which it appears sales will once again be very important. MilanNews relayed his words.

“I’m starting to get news about Milan’s budget and honestly, it’s not a budget that excites me. They’re talking about a budget of around €30m, which is the money that should come from the Champions League. To this figure we’ll then add the sales,” he said.

“Milan’s philosophy is to keep the money moving, there’s always movement on the market, there’s never a market with two or three adjustments. From what I’m told, the €30m budget isn’t news that drives me crazy.

“Let’s do the math: Gila is coming for a figure between €20m and €35m, I’m being very conservative. Sorloth is coming because a striker is coming. Sorloth, let’s say €30-35m, so with these two we’d already be outside the budget.

“Agent Mendes has offered Milan Gonçalo Ramos, who costs €30-35m. We need to strengthen the squad to qualify for the Champions League, and we shouldn’t go there just to compete. When you wear the Milan shirt, there are strict obligations.

“Otherwise, it’s better not to go there just to make a fool of yourself, like losing to Dinamo Zagreb or being eliminated by Feyenoord. If the budget is €30m plus transfers, we won’t get very far.”

  1. I am willing to put A LOT of clams that Milan will invest severely more than 30 millions this summer especially after CL qualification. Bunch of nonsense

    1. I do agree we will probably spend more than that but we will have to compensate for not being in cl current season to.

  2. We can’t even wipe our asses with 30 mllion plus money from sales which in all likelihood won’t be the amount we were hoping for, sadly. The fact is that we need at least 6 more high-quality players, namely DC, RWB, LWB, MC and 2 SC. In addition
to that, it would be more than diserable to get
1 more DC and MC and at the same time as soon and fast as possible get rid of Odogu (what a flop), Estupinan, Loftus-Cheek, Leao and Gimenez (this goes without saying for Bennacer and Musah), maybe even Ricci or Ardon even though in reality there are very slim chances for Ricci’s departure. Let’s just hope that we can now use Camarda as a third (or fifth) striker in a pecking order and utilise Bondo/Zeroli/Commotto meaning some of them would be the 8th midfielder in the rotation which would indeed play very rarely and be used in the “garbage time” of sort.

    1. Good username.

      Another Revolt!

If you want Milan to spend money so much why don’t you put money in yourself and you can then f’ck up the team to your hearts content.

      1. Said “Maldini’s heir”. You really think there can ever be another Maldini? So much about the username.

          1. It does address it in a way even it is just indirectly because perhaps you and me both live in some kind of a dream and we both fantasize in our own worlds. On the other hand, I sincerely believe that this goal (dream) of mine is achieveable at least to a decent extent. It is your right to think that we don’t need more than a few new players but you shouldn’t count on the likes of Tomori, Gabbia, Bartesaghi etc. On or two of them can be “tolerated” in the starting lineup, anything above that damages us and we are guaranteed to suffer in a long run. Tomori and Leao are becoming long-term but Leao is on his way out of Milan, Tomori isn’t even a standard starter. Even Maignan can change his mind and ask to leave if we don’t show some serious ambition. Also, how long do you think Modric can play and who do you see as his replacement in a foreseeable future? Lack of depth and better and/or wider rotation is the thing that hurts us the most and we must work on that.

  3. Again. Not how transfer budgets work. It’s how newspaper stories work.

If Goretzka arrived on a 7M salary and a 9M signing bonus, he’s approximately 10M per year, despite being ‘free’.

If [name, eg Gila] arrives for 21M transfer fee and a 3M salary, that’s also 10M per year.

Maybe Pelligatti is right, and it’s 30M outlay plus sales. But maybe that’s assuming Vlahovic and Gorezka come in for ‘free’ and it’s assuming a salary budget of €xM.

Or maybe it’s numbers for clicks.

  4. The club has whatever it has.

What we don’t need is a team that nearly won the Scudetto and have another f’ing revolution.

The team has only just recovered from the last few years of madness. It’s finally getting some identity back.

    Maignan renewed.

He, Tomori and Leao are becoming long term.

Gabbia has finally been trusted and has delivered.

Bartesaghi is giving hope for the future.

Modric and Rabiot have brought class.

Camarda is on a knife edge. One more loan and that’s it for him.

The team is so close to returning to the top. It doesn’t need 6 or whatever silly number of players.

It needs a proven CF who will deliver goals and support Camarda.

It needs possibly someone to lift the midfield. Maybe an upgrade on Fofana who could drop back to a rotation option which would force out RLC.

The squad needs to stay tight. We need to be able to know the team. Not another bunch of strangers.

    Please.

  5. Don’t forget that we’ll receive some funds from our loaned out players too.

    Jimenez (10 mil)
    Chuk (24 mil)
    Colombo (10 mil)
    Pobega (7 mil)
    Morata (10 mil)

So if the rumour of 30 mil is true, we have around 90 mil to begin with next season. And that’ll of course be added with the outgoing transfers.

    Nkunku (25-30 mil)
    Estu (10-15 mil)
    Gimenez (25-30 mil)

Although it’s not an exciting numbers, but yes we still can get the players we need.

    1. We don’t need another revolution. This team already has pretty solid foundation. Just need to add several posts that Allegri desperately need (from last season tbh). CB, LWB, CM, and CF. Hopefully it’ll be Gila, Grimaldo, Goretzka, and Sorloth. We’ll be solid enough for 2-3 competitions.

      1. It’s a lot of assumption, but sure. If all those players are sold then we’d have close to 140M. Then one of Pulisic or Leao will probably be sold, or maybe even both, since neither obviously plays well in 3-5-2 catenaccio, and Leao is at the salary cap so renewal is almost impossible, so we might actually have 170-200M to spend then. That also means the dreaded revolution by default.

        1. Adding 4 players is barely a revolution. The outgoing players are not even the regular starting eleven. You also said above that we needed proven CF and CM. So what’s that?

Italian or not, is on another subject.

  6. Well if you include the players that are on loan and will be purchased (we know already), it gets closer to 100M. He should try using his brain instead of whining.

    1. Idk about that much but its not gonna be 30m.
UCL play good finishing pos in the league plus the players sales my opinion is we get at least 60-70m + 30-50m from players the real problem is who they wanna spend it with

  7. I can’t believe we are here today, with the biggest scandal since 2006, and yet not one mention on SM. Truth is coming out that there is in fact an inter bias in the AIA and SM has nothing to publish? Oli and co would rather publish the ramblings of this old nobody over the most important news story to come out of Italy this entire season. WTF kind of site is this?!

  8. I’m not sure why everyone is getting carried away with the mercato. In the last 4 years has this management shown any ambition when it came to the mercato?

We average 1-2 good signing per window amidst all the garbage we pick up, and if they are good we sell them on in a year. Last summer was a lucky one because besides Modric we had Rabiot literally fall into our laps. But overall, it has been ZERO strengthening or any ambition to build something.

    25-26: Modric Rabiot
24-25: Pavlovic (Fofana hit & miss)
23-24: Puli & Reijnders (who is then sold)
22-23: Thiaw the only one worth mention also then sold…

And those are only the decent players – everyhone was utter trash. Every mercato is a joke and this one so far seems on track to be the same.

    1. They’ve shown a lot of ‘ambition’, if we’re judging by spend. Just not a lot of good decision making or in-depth squad planning.

    2. The Problem is that Pellegati thinks the Mercato Budget is only 30m while in the last years this isn’t the case its way more than that. Amd yh their choices is Questionable for the overall Newcomers yes but They Only need to Fire the whole department and sign some more proven and better negotiators so they can judge better and sign better players even with the mostly 20m max signing. Thats true the problem and the critic they are going a good amount of money but they dont use it properly and mostly bully teams thats what he needs to criticise not the amount

  9. How much was spent on Estupido??

How much was spent on Kunku?

Can someone reminds me? I think one is 40+ the other is 20.

Think you have a bigger budget? That is already in. why don’t you use it..

And for those who blames Theo, are you happier now with our new “star” with 20m spent? lmao clowns, bunch.. lol
