Pietro Pellegri has remained on the bench for the last two league games but could soon get some playing time. Olivier Giroud’s injury, in fact, has increased the youngster’s chances a lot.
Giroud is expected to miss the rest of 2021 with a hamstring and this means that Stefano Pioli only has Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Pellegri at his disposal. Ibrahimovic, as we know, can’t play every game from start to finish.
As pointed out by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), Pellegri will thus get some chances to show his qualities. He joined Milan on a loan with an option to buy from Monaco this summer and it could turn into an obligation if certain conditions are met.
Indeed, the striker needs to show that he deserves to be in this Milan team, especially since loanee Lorenzo Colombo is doing great for SPAL in Serie B. The Rossoneri, therefore, could be inclined to rely on him next season instead.
