Just 17 minutes into the game between Juventus and AC Milan last night, Ante Rebic was sent off for a reckless high boot. He hit Danilo’s chest with his studs and was rightfully punished by the referee. 

Certainly, the kick reminded us of Nigel De Jong’s foul on Xabi Alonso during the World Cup final in 2010. The Dutchman, who played for Milan between 2012 and 2016, was somehow just given a yellow card.

On Instagram, the midfielder reacted to Rebic’s red card on 433’s post, commenting the picture with the eye emoji. Take a look at the similarities of the incidents below.
