AC Milan Women star Christy Grimshaw has confirmed that she suffered an ACL tear during the Rossonere’s 4-1 win against Como last weekend.

It was in the 38th minute of the clash that the Scotland international had to leave the pitch due to an injury. On her Twitter account, she has now confirmed that she suffered an ACL tear which will keep her out for the rest of the season.

The bad news was delivered with a heartfelt message, seeing as it was her 99th game for the club: “It’s been a difficult few days. During my 99th game (yes 99!) for AC Milan last weekend, I tore my ACL and pretty much everything else in my knee.

“After some reflection, I know this season we haven’t met the standards of playing for a club like Milan, but we have grown a lot and sometimes before you rise you need to fall… I’m about to put all of that growth and patience into practice now.

“I’m devastated I can’t help my club or my country throughout the next few important months. Thank you so much for the messages and I’ll be back soon enough with a smile on my face,” she wrote.

Everyone at SempreMilan would like to wish Christy a speedy recovery. Come back stronger!
