Zlatan Ibrahimovic has certainly aged like a fine wine, still performing at a very high level at the age of 39. As a result of his success this year, the striker has been awarded in Sweden.

At the annual event Fotbollsgalan, which took place this evening, Ibrahimovic was named as ‘striker of the year’ and then also received the prestigious award ‘Guldbollen’ – the best Swedish player in the last year.

Considering his success with Milan, many expected him to take home the award as the closest competitors – Dejan Kulusevski and Nilsson Lindelöf – haven’t been as good. As cited by Fotbollskanalen, Ibrahimovic was pleased with the win.

“I think that everything is possible as long as you want it, believe in it and spend a lot of time dedicated to hard work. Then everything is possible, he began.

“You can’t end your career with empty stands. So I’m aiming for another guldboll by the time I’m 50 too,” he joked when asked about the future.

Ibrahimovic has now won the award 12 times, despite having missed out the last three years. Prior to that, he won it ten times in a row.
