Photos: Milan players react to Liverpool loss on social media – ‘Our journey has just begun’

AC Milan were unable to pick up any points during their first game back in the Champions League for seven years as they were beaten 3-2 by Liverpool.

It was a rollercoaster of a game at Anfield where a packed crowd were treated to five goals, with three coming in the first 45 minutes as Ante Rebic and Brahim Diaz fired the Rossoneri into a lead after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s deflected shot opened the scoring.

Jurgen Klopp’s side came back resurgent after the break, levelling through Mo Salah before Jordan Henderson’s first time strike won the game. Nonetheless, the players can hold their heads high, and below are the reactions of the squad on social media…

Calabria: “We come out defeated by a difficult game. We know that the path will be challenging, but we will always give everything to prove our worth in Europe too.”

Theo Hernandez: “We will continue to fight. Our journey has just begun.”

Bennacer: “Proud to have made my debut in the Champions League. We are disappointed but we must look ahead. There is still a long way to go!”

Brahim: “A pity the result… but this continues. It’s just the beginning!”

Leao: “I fulfilled the dream of child that was to play in this very prestigious competition but sad for the result… We will definitely give a different answer in the next game, a thank you to the fans who were at the stadium!”

Tonali: “The debut in Champions League. And the bitterness remains in the mouth. Head held high, we are AC Milan.”
