Piatek: “The most important thing the team, not my goal”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek has pledged to give everything against SPAL in the final game to try and secure a top four finish.

The Rossoneri ensured they signed off their final home game in the right way, scoring twice in the second half to earn a hard-fought win.

Piatek scored the first just before the hour mark with a close range flick, while Suso doubled the advantage with a wonderful free-kick.

The result means that Champions League hopes were kept alive for the time being at least, with hopes now resting on Juventus beating Atalanta.

Speaking to Milan TV after the match, Piatek said:

“The most important thing for me is the team, not today’s goal,” the Poland international said.

“I had a difficult time – five, six [games] – I had never played many matches without scoring. I have always been concentrated in training and in matches, today the goal was important.

“I hope we can go into the Champions League, we will play everything against SPAL.

“Abate? I congratulated Abate because he made an incredible career for Milan. Genoa? I’m sorry, but I hope they can save themselves on the last day.”
