Pioli admits he would like Kessie ‘to sign’ renewal but insists ‘there are no problems’

Franck Kessie’s contract with AC Milan will expire next year and he’s yet to sign a new deal with the club. In fact, negotiations are proving to be very difficult and it remains to be seen what the outcome will be.

In the meantime, Kessie has recovered from his injury and should play from the first minute tomorrow. He will play alongside Sandro Tonali, who has started the season very well after what was a tough 2020/21 campaign.

During today’s press conference, as cited by MilanNews, Stefano Pioli was asked about the future of Kessie and the contract situation. He made it clear that he wants the midfielder to sign, but also insisted that there are no issues.

“I would like Kessie to sign, it is a situation that concerns the club and its agent more. When there is a negotiation it goes on for a long time, it is normal that this is the case. With Franck, we talk about the pitch and I see him motivated, calm and positive. At the moment there are no problems,” he stated.

As said, it remains to be seen how the saga will end but the Rossoneri fans are right to be worried. After Hakan Calhanoglu and Gigio Donnarumma, it would be a huge blow to also lose Kessie on a free transfer.
