Al Nassr are looking for a winger during the winter transfer window and they made an attempt to sign Rafael Leao from AC Milan, a report claims.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the team managed by Stefano Pioli and where Cristiano Ronaldo plays are aiming to bolster the attack and Leao ended up under the magnifying glass as part of the search.
The Saudi Pro League club are even willing to invest between €70-85m as a transfer fee. They carried out an investigation through intermediaries on Thursday 30 January to see what Leao’s thoughts were, and the response they got was negative.
However, Milan closed the door firmly on the idea of a sale in January, all with the market in Saudi Arabia close to closing and little room for negotiation in this market. Al Nassr had already received a ‘no’ from Brighton for Mitoma at the same price.
Leao is currently in his sixth season with the Rossoneri having joined from Lille back in 2019, and as a reminder Barcelona have also been linked in recent windows with a move for the Portugal international.
Pioli’s side are currently engaged in a title battle that sees several teams involved at the top of the standings. Ronaldo and his teammates currently occupy third place, five points from top spot, which is why they were/are looking to bolster their attacking arsenal before the window shuts.
Make it 100M transfer record!! We know you can afford it..
The players value is depreciating theo and Leo either there step up thier games or get sold now there still have some value on them the management should think twice mostly on theo
Leao has to be the most frustrating “star player” we’ve ever had. I don’t remember Kaka, Ibra etc being so good one game and so bad the next…
Ibra had a tendency to ‘drop off’ in big games…..but yeah the legends of the past Kaka. Savicevic, Gullit, Sheva, MVB, Rijkaard always stepped up
Ibra in the CL – yeh that was weird, but other than that he was basically a monster in every game. Leao you don’t know if you’re getting monster or a mouse.
Agree, but more like a monster or a sloth.
Cash in, sell. Half our games it’s like playing with 10 men.
There is a big difference. Leao are one of two star player/top tiers players. Those guys mentioned, they had top tiers players all over the pitch
And that’s the difference between world class and simply having talent. Those players are world class, Leao has talent.
Kaka not, Ibra yes. And they all played with superstars and not with deadwood. Imagine being Kaka and having to play with Emerson or Pavlovic as a regular 1st team player. I don’t think he’d be that fired up…
To be fair, I think they had plenty of off days but they were in a team with similar calibre players and if one was off the others had enough to get the job done.
Leao is very much the focal point of the Milan team now. We saw what a banner year Pulisic had last year when opponents starting adapting to Pioli’s very left-sided tactic and Chris had a lot more space to play with.
In my opinion, his star status has also been aided in the past two seasons by Theo covering so much ground, opening up space for him and always being an extra threat… three years ago it was predominantly overlapping and last two years it was driving into the inside space. That’s just not there this season.
Left to me alone I’ll sell Theo & Leao during d summer window, dey want big pay but dey can’t carry d team on their shoulders for 5 straight game consistently. today dey are good & tomorrow dey are terrible
If it’s £100m, they should sell Leao (as well as Theo if they can get the same sort of money). This season is a write-off – remodel the squad completely in the summer.
And.. Daniel Maldini to Atalanta. Lol. We all know what it means if Atalanta have been eyeing a player.
Ex-Milan Player play to Atalanta
Maldini (probably),De Ketelaree(5 goals, 5 assists), Belanova (5 assist), Brescianini (3 goals, 2 assists),
It’s crazy how people say, “just sell them” (the star players) as soon as a big spender club is knocking on the door. If that’s the case, this club will never be one of the elites in Europe
I read dumb fans comment every day, sell leao same way tonali was sold and replaced with trash, don’t worry Management will buy a 20m replacement above 30y
SELL!
The reality is that we are rebuilding phase again. If they are will to give 100 million. Milan should take it and buy 3 quality players. Also change formation pehaps and rebuild around the new formation and Sergio’s request
Do not mind the typos
So many people say sell. But what then? Leao is our attack. Without him nothing works in attack.
Don’t worry, Pulisic will suddenly be able to get past a player somehow and it will be solved.
Sell for 100m and get lookman from Atalanta
Ask about 120 million. Then let him go. 85 million euro is an insult, given they paid more for a lesser player.
Milan should push for 80-90 and sell him. Get Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund. Leao is a joke. Another Balotelli type of player.
Do you think you can get a player like him if you sell him? Milan will have to spend a bit less to get a player on the same level, or buy a new young player that will bloom in 3-4 years, and Milan is so good at nurturing young players, are they?
What should Milan do is buy players in other positions that can reduce their burden. That’s what Milan failed to date. People just don’t learn from Tonali-RLC
Keep Leao. It is already too late find replacement in winter market. Leao can help team in playoff vs feyenoord. Just find one DMF , one CF for morata replacement ( deal to galatasaray), one LB for theo competitor
By keeping Leao management is basically reinforcing his inconsistent displays making it OK to perform like that. Same with Theo.
If you want to change this team. Ship out the players that don’t field the mold and bring in the players you need for your unit to click.
Folks, I know we’re frustrated, but it’s not a good idea to dismantle the team in January. The loss to Zagreb was unfortunate, but we’re not out of the CL. We have a game in hand in Serie A, that if we win would put us 2 pts behind 4th. Things are bad right now, but the season is not over. If we sell EVERYONE in January, we’ll be near the relegation zone come May. What’s the point of that?
It’s not just the loss but the overall display during the entire season (including both Fonseca and Conceição tenures) and especially recently under Conceição.
This team seems capable of losing to anyone and as of late it’s not willingless to win that we saw but despair, anger and frustration. Yes we’re not our of the UCL but I think many here don’t think we’re gonna make it past Feyenoord and especially not past one of Arsenal or Inter. We’re actually 5 points away from 4th place and it doesn’t look like we can make it.
So on one hand I agree with you that we might be acting irrationally and out of despair rather than out of concise and intelligent decision and we shouldn’t let emotions dictate our season.
But on the other hand I feel like it’s pointless to hold any hope in these individuals that want to be called a team, so might as well demolish everything and build from scratch.
I’m not saying this is a good decision, in fact it’s most likely a terrible decision, but it feels like we’re already done this season.
Get rid of him now and take the money . I have never in my life seen such a lazy player . I no looking at his
Face he does not want to be at ac milan please get rid
Of him and quick.
