Pioli assures Milan are ‘concentrated but serene’ ahead of deciding Napoli clash

Ahead of the big clash between AC Milan and Napoli this evening, Stefano Pioli spoke to the media about the Rossoneri’s chances. After the 1-0 win in the first leg, they do indeed have a slight advantage.

Ismael Bennacer’s goal in the first leg was enough to secure the win but the game, as a whole, was a very close one. Tonight’s clash is expected to be just as tight and it remains to be seen which team will handle the pressure best.

Speaking to Sky Italia, as cited by MilanNews, Pioli admitted that Milan will have to be ‘top notch’ in order to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League. However, he made it clear that the Rossoneri are optimistic.

For it to become a special night, what Milan must you be?

“Top notch. We are facing a very strong opponent but we have to play as Milan.”

Will you change anything?

“Possibly. In our build-up we will try to get an advantage, managing the ball well will be important. But I think it’s the attitudes of the opponents that force you to make the right choices on the pitch.”

What Milan have you seen in these hours?

“Concentrated but serene. It’s our way of being. We have to be careful but with the right serenity to face such an important match.”

The manager has decided to field the same XI we saw in the first leg, after resting everyone but Mike Maignan in this past weekend’s 1-1 draw against Bologna. The starters, as such, should have a lot of energy for this one.
