Pioli confirms either Ibrahimovic or Giroud will start for Milan vs. Bologna

By Isak Möller -

Following the defeat against Porto mid-week, AC Milan will be looking to claim all three points this Saturday as they will face Bologna. Despite many injuries, Stefano Pioli has some battles to consider for the starting XI.

In total, the manager will be without nine players for the game: Mike Maignan, Alessandro Plizzari, Alessandro Florenzi, Theo Hernandez, Franck Kessie, Junior Messias, Brahim Diaz, Ante Rebic and Pietro Pellegri. Some key players, in other words.

He does, however, have both Olivier Giroud and Zlatan Ibrahimovic available and that has been rare this season. The Swede is getting back into shape and could even play from the first minute tomorrow, which would really show the success of his recovery.

During his press conference, which you can read in full here, Pioli was asked about who will start up front tomorrow. He revealed that he’s yet to decide and also stated that Milan’s can’t play with both of them just yet.

“Ibra needs to train and play. He has been training in the group for a week. His playing time will be increasing, I still have to decide who will start between him and Giroud.

“The current condition of Ibra and Giroud does not allow us to play with the two strikers, when they are well they can play together. Pellegri had a small problem and he won’t be there tomorrow,” he stated.
