Pioli confirms Milan want another centre-back: “The directors are working”

AC Milan recently brought back Matteo Gabbia from his loan in Spain due to the injury crisis, and they most likely won’t stop there. As confirmed by Stefano Piol during today’s press conference, the Rossoneri are looking for another centre-back.

The likes of Pierre Kalulu, Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori are all on the sidelines and this has made life rather difficult for Pioli. The early return of Gabbia from Villarreal is a boost, and the Italian is set to start against Roma tomorrow, but another centre-back signing is on the cards.

As confirmed by Pioli during his pre-match presser earlier today, Milan are indeed looking to sign another centre-back. The intention is there, in other words, but it remains to be seen if Geoffrey Moncada and Giorgio Furlani will find the right profile.

“Another defender? The directors are working to fill this need. Gabbia has arrived, Terracciano has arrived, we have sorted our difficulties a bit but we are certainly still missing a defender,” he stated.

Brest’s Lilian Brassier is one of the top targets for the position, as per a report, and the Rossoneri are pondering a €10m offer for the player. For now, though, Pioli will rely on Simon Kjaer and Gabbia for the position.
