GdS: Courage and bold choices pay off for Pioli – he currently has the magic touch

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli deserves praise for his bold and courageous choices in the last couple of games, according to a report.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) writes about the contribution that various players have made recently including the likes of Brahim Diaz and Alexis Saelemaekers, plus Daniel Maldini yesterday, and all while we are waiting for Ibrahimovic’s return and the Giroud to be in top condition.

This is Pioli’s Milan, the paper writes, because of his choices, his intuitions and his courage. Starting Maldini Jr. for the first time in the league yesterday in a tough game was not an obvious decision, but it shows how he is willing to make judgement calls after reading situations.

Pioli is also skilled in moving his players around during the match as it is ongoing according to the needs, as well as injecting life into the game with substitutions. Brahim Diaz was a last throw of the dice in a way, a player he had kept in his pocket in case of need, and it was a magic touch yet again.

  1. Where’re the #Pioliout boys? And the #keepHauge shouters? And the #payKessie voices? It’s oh so quite in Milan. Let’s keep it that way.

  2. To be honest, I’m one of the #keephauge people..
I still believe that Hauge should be given more chances to show his potential more..

    1. I liked Hauge as well, but didn’t think we wasted the biggest talent ever when he left. He’s not doing so well anymore at Frankfurt after a flying start. Milan often get criticised by letting young players leave, but most of them never make it to the top. I remember people shouting when Saponara left, and Cutrone end Acerbi (he’s doing OK but not exceptional). Even Locatelli has it all to prove. He played good at the EC but he’s not a proven champion yet. Andre Silva turned out good, but he had plenty of chances at Milan and it didn’t work out.
