CM: Pioli has Zaccheroni and Allegri in sight – his cycle at Milan could be just beginning

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan know that what they have with Stefano Pioli is potentially something that could see him enter the record books as head coach, a report claims.

Pioli confessed yesterday to Radio Anchio Sport that he would be happy to stay at Milan forever, and Calciomercato.com reports how since he arrived in October 2019 to replace Marco Giampaolo, the former Lazio and Fiorentina boss has given a defined identity to a team that were full of confusion and fear.

Not only that, but Pioli is helping them back to being able to fight for ambitious targets and he has done so by focusing on the strength of the group and using empathy to nurture a very young core. He knows how to use harsh tones when needed, which makes him the ideal blend, and having the trust and esteem of the management helps.

He has a fantastic harmony with Maldini and Massara, and now his contract is expiring in 2023 and not at the end of the season means that too is not a problem. With 119 games on the Milan bench, Pioli is 11th in that ranking.

Zaccheroni is 10th with 125, then is Allegri with 178, but Nereo Rocco with 459 and Ancelotti with 420 are quite far away. That being said, the feeling is that Pioli’s cycle at Milan might have only just begun.
