AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has revealed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is ready to play against Lazio, who he believes will be a tough opponent.

Speaking to DAZN, Pioli spoke about the upcoming fixture at San Siro which represents the first real battle against a top four rival for his side, beginning by discussing the condition of Ibrahimovic.

“Ibrahimovic is ready but he hasn’t played an official match for months. He has been training with us for 7-8 days but he is ready,” he said (via MilanNews).

Kessie and Romagnoli will return to the starting XI and will make their first starts of the new campaign.

“Kessie and Romagnoli are two important players and it is important that they come back with us. Kessie has just returned. It will be a good match, difficult against a team that plays well in football and we will try to do it too.”

Pioli was then asked what scares him about Lazio, to which he replied: “Nothing scares me about Lazio but we have great respect for our opponent. We are convinced of our qualities and we know that Lazio have a very strong midfield and attack. We will have to be good in the non-possession phase and be compact and aggressive when we can be.”
