MN: Pioli to make eight changes and switch formation against Sassuolo

AC Milan are currently gearing up to face Sassuolo away from home and as per a report, Stefano Pioli is preparing maxi-rotation for the game. Indeed, eight changes will be made to the starting eleven, while a formation switch is on the cards as well.

Milan suffered a disappointing defeat against Roma mid-week and will be looking to bounce back against Sassuolo. However, with the reverse fixture against the Giallorossi scheduled for Thursday next week, Pioli will have to rest some of his stars tomorrow.

According to MilanNews, the manager is expected to make eight changes, replacing the entire XI except for Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez and Tijjani Reijnders. He’s also set to deploy the 4-3-3 formation rather than the 4-2-3-1, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek set to get some rest.

Update: Maignan is suffering from fatigue and hasn’t been called up.

Predicted Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Sportiello; Florenzi, Kjaer, Tomori, Theo; Musah, Adli; Chukwueze, Reijnders, Okafor; Jovic.

Samuel Chukwueze has been in tremendous form lately so a lot of responsibility will fall on his shoulders. The same goes for Yacine Adli who, just like the Nigerian, came off the bench against Roma and helped Milan almost find an equaliser.

With Champions League qualification virtually secured (only one more win is needed), it certainly makes sense to preserve energy for the Roma clash. Especially since Liverpool might not make it to the final.
