Pioli questioned at press conference as speculation grows regarding interest in Bajrami

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are interested in signing Nedim Bajrami from Empoli and they will get a chance to see him first hand on Saturday, a report claims.

Speaking on Carlo Pellegatti’s YouTube channel (via MilanNews), Carlo Laudisa added to the growing number of sources claiming that Milan like what they have seen from the 23-year-old playmaker so far this season.

Brahim Diaz would cost €22m to buy permanently and he has not convinced in his second loan spell thus far, so Milan are looking around to try and find the right profile for the role of attacking midfielder.

Bajrmani will be watched closely in Saturday night’s game at San Siro. His contract expires in 2024 and this could lead Empoli to sell him at a favourable price, just like what had happened in the past with Krunic and Bennacer.

Pioli was actually asked for his thoughts on Bajrami during today’s pre-match press conference, and although he dodged the question he seemed to hint at an admiration for the player.

“They are an unpredictable team, who love the runs behind from the midfielders. The quality of the individuals is there. They started with the aim of avoiding relegation, they are very close and we must congratulate Andreazzoli for the work done,” he said.
