AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has urged his players to battle for every single ball as they get ready to face Red Bull Salzburg in Austria tonight.
Milan kick off their 2022-23 Champions League group stage campaign against the Austrian champions at the Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, a stadium where they remained undefeated in the competition last season including against Bayern Munich in the knockout rounds.
The Rossoneri will be hoping for a big improvement after winning just once in a group involving Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Porto which meant they finished bottom, but Dinamo Zagreb’s result against Chelsea really shows there are no easy games.
Pioli spoke to Sky Italia before the game and stressed his belief that his side are ready to face the competition again, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.
“It will be the pitch that will tell if we are stronger than last year. We arrive well in this match, aware of the strength of Salzburg and also of our means,” he began.
“We are excited, it is right to have certain sensations, but my players they have an incredible serenity, sometimes they surprise me because they also have great concentration.
“We will give our all and show our qualities. In the Champions League, every ball can be decisive.”
