Pioli gives cautious response on chances of Chelsea loanee starting vs. Roma

Since he arrived in January, Fikayo Tomori has done well when given the chance at the back, mostly coming on as a sub. However, as Alessio Romagnoli has struggled to perform, there seemed to be an opening.

Judging by Stefano Pioli’s press conference earlier today, though, it seems the Chelsea loanee will have a wait a bit more to get the chance from start regularly. As cited by MilanNews, his response was cautious to say the least.

“If Tomori can start tomorrow? He’s doing well, has good characteristics, he has entered with great speed. We will see, apart from Mandzukic, Maldini and Bennacer all are available. We will try to make the best choices.”

As mentioned, captain Romagnoli has been very criticised in the last few weeks and he was to blame for Red Star’s goal mid-week. Despite this, Pioli will give him another chance in the heart of the defence for the clash vs. Roma.

The game is scheduled for 20:45 CET tomorrow and it will be a very important game for Milan, as a win would be massive for the standings and confidence-wise. However, against fourth-placed Roma, it won’t be a walk in the park.
