Pioli gives positive update regarding renewal of star duo: “There is the will on both sides”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has given a positive update regarding the renewal talks for Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu.

The transfer window does not officially open until January 4 in Italy but that has not stopped intense speculation regarding potential dealings for the Rossoneri as they look to address a number of key issues.

The Rossoneri are dealing with the delicate issue of two contract renewals for the management to try and sort as Donnarumma and Calhanoglu are on deals which are set to expire in six months.

Pioli spoke during his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of tomorrow night’s match against Torino, and he was asked in particular about Calhanoglu’s situation but offered comment on Donnarumma too.

“I think there is the will of the owners to renew the expiring contracts, there is a negotiation. I’m here waiting, but the positive thing is that there is the will on both sides. The thing that matters is to see the guys attentive and calm,” he said (via MilanNews).

Therefore, it appears that the coach is calm about the situation and the news that both players wish to remain at the club can only be positive from a negotiating standpoint.
