Pioli ‘happy’ with success of Hernandez and highlights defensive improvement

Theo Hernandez has been a key player for AC Milan in the last two years and now he’s starting to show his qualities for France as well. In the game against Belgium, he scored the winner with a fantastic strike late on.

Needless to say, Milan are extremely happy with the development of the player as he’s now worth three times what they paid in 2019. From €20m to €60m, which just goes to show that Paolo Maldini was right to bet on the left-back.

In his long interview with Il Giornale (via MilanNews), Stefano Pioli was asked about Hernandez and the big steps the Frenchman has taken in the last year or so. Above all, he has managed to improve his defensive skills, which is very important.

“The French national team was one of his goals and he achieved it. He is satisfied and we are happy. Theo, in Bergamo, made 3-4 of those blitzes in the attacking phase and now he’s becoming complete even in the defensive phase,” he stated.

Hernandez has one goal and four assists for Milan this season and he continues to be an important player in the attacking phase. Hopefully, he will continue like this.
