Pioli reveals how he knew Milan would win the Scudetto: “A magical environment”

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli believes that the 2021-22 season was his best as a coach and stressed how the ‘magical environment’ was what helped the team win the title.

It is now just over three years since Pioli became the new head coach of Milan and it has certainly been a journey with an upward trajectory, given that his appointment was met with the trending ‘#PioliOut’ on Twitter but that has now been replaced by the famous ‘Pioli is on fire’ song.

The former Lazio and Fiorentina boss ended the Scudetto drought last season after 11 years and he is rightly recognised for having helped many individuals grow like Theo Hernandez, Pierre Kalulu, Sandro Tonali, Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao among others.

Pioli was awarded as the best coach of last season at the Gran Galà del Calcio awards last night and he spoke to some reporters at the event, with his comments relayed by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it.

On whether it was his best season: “Definitely yes. I was very lucky to have a fantastic club behind me that supported me, helped me, and a group of exceptional players. We have managed to create a magical environment where everyone has been able to perform at their best.”

On the moment when he knew Milan win the Scudetto: “At Milanello, with the support of our managers, with daily work, with this positive air that allows us every day to field our full potential and to keep trying to grow and keep trying to win every single game.”

On his song, Pioli is on fire: “It’s exciting. I think the thing that makes me most proud is that the song was started by my boys on the bus. Then our fantastic fans took it over, so clearly very emotional. We hope to be able to carry it on together for as long as possible.”
