The biggest question mark AC Milan have heading into Sunday’s derby against Inter is the left-back spot given the injury and suspension situation.
Theo Hernandez was given a one-game ban for getting two yellow cards during the game against Roma and therefore will miss the crucial game against the Nerazzurri, but head coach Stefano Pioli could also be without his natural replacement as Fodé Ballo-Touré is in strong doubt.
According to il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanLive), the full-back still feels pain in his ankle after the tackle that saw Soriano get a red card during the 4-2 win over Bologna, and he is unlikely to be available against Inter.
Pioli is evaluating all options and has come up with three possible ideas for the left-back position, the first of which is to use Pierre Kalulu in that position again despite the fact he did not convince there away at Porto and at home against Torino.
The second hypothesis also has Kalulu starting, but with the move of Davide Calabria to the left side given he has already played this role in the past, even with the Italian national team.
The third option is more imaginative as Pioli could try a three-at-the-back hybrid again which would involve selecting three centre-backs in Kjaer, Tomori and Romagnoli and then Calabria would start and push up a bit more.

Yes I agree with the three back.we have the materials to play with three at the back.FORZA MILAN 🏆👌🎖️🙏
Or you can throw Kerkez in there. I’m sure he’ll do well. The boy is natural.
Yes, he is natural but it would be a huge risk playing his first against Inter….
Not that much risk if we play 3-5-2. If it will be 4 man defence that shifts to 3 when we attack different story.
Probably 3 man defense with Romagnoli stopper Kjaer sweeper and Tomori stopper. with 3 man DM Bennacer, Kessie, and Tonali. Diaz between the line and Leao and Calabria and Ibra as the cherry top.
Calabria is better in attacking than Alexis so why not and he can drop to defense as well.
This look really nice.
Calabria will track back better.
Bakayoko can come in to any of the tired legs, and we can also bring in Krunic to replace Diaz and Rebic for Zlatan
