Tuttosport: Pioli hits back as Milan fans target Kessie with boos amid renewal saga

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s ultras the Curva Sud chose to send a message to Franck Kessie over the uncertainty regarding his renewal situation during the win over Sampdoria.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) reports that the reading of the two line-ups there was some whistles when the speaker announced the name of Kessie, but the highlight of the protest came when a banner was displayed rearding: “Those who love Milan prove it with facts, best regards to those who are dissatisfied.” Then, hi entry into the field in place of Brahim Diaz was accompanied by other boos from the many Milan fans present.

On the other hand, the reaction that Theo Hernandez got was much more positive, with the full-back having just renewed until 2026. Milan fans are now getting used to the idea that the Ivorian is likely to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.

In the post-match interviews, Stefano Pioli defended Kessie: “I heard the boos and I don’t think it’s the right thing because we need everyone.” Alessio Romagnoli is also on an expiring deal but it seems Kessie’s words at the Olympics and his inconsistent performances have led him to be targeted.
