GdS: Pioli, Maldini and Massara all at risk if Milan fail key season objective

AC Milan have not had a positive 2022 domestically so far and reflections will be made at the end of the season if top four is missed, a report claims.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) recall this morning that Milan went seven games without a win starting with the 2-2 draw against Roma at home and then seemed to have recovered, but they have taken just one point from the games against Fiorentina, Salernitana and Udinese.

Qualification for the quarter-finals of the Champions League after 11 years came after the defeat to La Viola, but finishing in the top four in Serie A is a fundamental target that Milan absolutely cannot miss out on.

As a result, everyone is under scrutiny including Stefano Pioli, Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara. They all have contracts for next season, but without qualification for the next edition of the Champions League they too may be at risk.

Everyone is responsible for these disappointing results as the summer transfer window seems to have failed to strengthen the squad while Pioli is not extracting the same spirit and mentality from the group that he did last season.

There is now an international break to try and get things back on course and while the dream of a run deep into the Champions League remains, the priority is to finish in the top four and nobody will be safe in the summer if that goal fails.
