GdS: Pioli, Maldini and the transfer market all at risk without Champions League qualification

Serious questions will have to be asked about Stefano Pioli, Paolo Maldini and the ability to make a big signing in the summer if AC Milan do not make it into the Champions League next season, a report claims.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), the Rossoneri could be in serious trouble if they do not make it into the top four.

The revenue that comes with Champions League qualification is worlds apart from the Europa League, so if Milan do not qualify, the owners could start to ask questions about Pioli’s leadership and Maldini’s position as sporting director.

The other casualty of failure to qualify could be the plan to make a major signing in the summer to improve the squad. The owners may not part with a large transfer fee if they do not have the reassurance of Champions League money to come.
