Pioli confirms meeting with Ibrahimovic and Furlani but denies talk about future

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has confirmed that he met with CEO Giorgio Furlani and advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but insisted they did not talk about his future.

It was reported by Calciomercato.com in the build-up to yesterday’s game that Pioli went to dinner with Furlani and Ibrahimovic and that there were some discussions about plans for beyond the season.

They remarked that there is a real harmony between Pioli and Ibrahimovic after the two struck up a strong bond when the Swede return to the club halfway through the 2019-20 campaign.

Ibra reiterated that the trust on the ownership side has remained intact, as per the source, even if there are several points that have not convinced them and which will fall into their analysis.

Pioli spoke to Sky Italia after last night’s Europa League last 16 second leg win against Slavia Praha and he was asked whether he spoke about his future at the dinner, with his response relayed by MilanNews.

“No, no. I really appreciated the dinner, the club gave me a gift for reaching 100 wins with Milan. We talked a lot about our things, this is a moment in which we have to be focused on the things we have to do.”

  1. For the good of everyone, the club , the players and most importantly the fans who spend money every week to watch this team, Pioli needs to leave, he cannot improve the team or the players.
When Calabria was replaced, why couldn’t he use Terraciano, instead he fielded Kalulu who is not totally match fit.
Girouds performance is becoming more depressing every week, he is tired exhausted, couldn’t Pioli have brought in Jovic at halftime. To give him match time, I have a feeling he deliberately does not want Jovic to suplant Giroud, that’s why he is giving him less time. Jovic is a far better and fitter player than Giroud.
