Pioli says Milan’s January signings will be ‘those who will recover’ from injury

By Isak Möller -

In the last few weeks, there has been a lot of speculation about whether AC Milan will make any signings in January or not. Speaking to the media yesterday, Stefano Pioli provided a pretty clear answer to this.

Milan are currently eight points behind Napoli in the league standings and will need a very good second half of the season to catch up. January signings, therefore, have been brought up as a way to boost the Rossoneri for this difficult task.

However, speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport (read in full here), Pioli shared his thoughts on the mercato. Admitting that these questions will probably be asked a lot in the next few weeks, he made it clear that he’s happy with the squad he has.

“I know that these questions will be asked more, but our signings will be the players who are injured today and who we will recover. I remain absolutely convinced of the quality of our group. And I repeat, as a whole, we have the potential to win every single match,” he stated.

For us that have followed Milan for a long time, we know all about injured players being described as ‘like new signings’. It remains to be seen if this is the right decision, otherwise the management will be held accountable.

  1. I don’t disagree with you Mister.
When all our players are available and have rhythm, I genuinely believe you can beat any Serie A team. You’ve shown that.
So let’s hope you can somehow pull another rabbit because if there’s one thing I’m certain of, is that Milan and these injuries are inseparable… I hope I’m proven wrong though.
