Pioli claims Milan ‘won’t be caught unprepared’ in January and will seize ‘opportunities’

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has suggested that the club are ready to pounce for the right opportunities in the January window.

The January window opened a couple of days ago and there seem to be mixed reports circulating about how active Milan will be. Some sources predict that if there is to be a signing it would only be another goalkeeper, while others believe that a forward – like Angelo Gabriel of Santos – could be acquired.

The injury situation does not make things easy for Pioli given that Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Divock Origi, Ante Rebic and Junior Messias are all out currently leaving the attack quite threadbare and requiring certain players to work overtime.

Pioli spoke to the reporters who gathered at Milanello for his pre-match press conference and he was asked about the potential for some additions in the attacking department given the injury problems.

What are the alternatives to Giroud?

“Oli is fine. Then we have alternatives like Lazetic and De Ketelaere,” he said (via MilanNews).

Will there be a reinforcement in attack?

“They shouldn’t be long injuries. If there are opportunities to strengthen the squad, the club won’t be caught unprepared.”
