Pioli brands Napoli a ‘great’ side but insists: “There are no perfect teams”

Stefano Pioli has suggested that his side should not fear Napoli as AC Milan face a crucial game in their Scudetto battle at the Stadio Diego Maradona.

The two teams go into the game knowing that a win would put them top and would provide big leverage over the other side, but they approach it in contrasting moods. Milan are winless in three games having dropped points against Salernitana and Udinese in the league, while Napoli arrive after a last minute win away against Lazio.

Pioli spoke to the reporters at Milanello who gathered for his pre-match press conference on the eve of the trip south and he discussed a number of different topics, including his thoughts on Napoli and the threat they post.

“Napoli are certainly a great team, but there are no perfect teams. We have prepared a game plan to put them in difficulty,” he said (via MilanPosts).

“We face a team that scored more points after the Christmas break. There will be two high quality teams on the field.”

He was also reminded that he is yet to win a battle against Luciano Spalletti as a manager, something that he believes is destined to change eventually.

“Sooner or later I will have to beat him, it would be better if it happened sooner than later. They have the best defence, they are good at dribbling and finding depth. Whoever defends better will have a better chance to win.”
