GdS: Milan management believe Pioli could emulate Ferguson and Wenger – details of his renewal

Today is the day that AC Milan should announce the contract renewal of head coach Stefano Pioli, according to a report.

Pioli’s renewal has been talked about for months but now the Rossoneri head coach should put pen to paper and sign an extension until 2023, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews). The paper claims that he will get a pay rise to €3m net per season with bonuses that could see it rise to €4m. and a three million euro salary that can come with bonuses.

The agreement will just be a one-year extension because both the coach and the Milan management want to be free to decide and are aware that, if the results are still positive, it will be enough to sit down at the table to renegotiate.

There is mutual trust and great empathy between Pioli and the rest of the club, and that is why the announcement should come either today or at the latest tomorrow. Either way, it will arrive before the game against Sassuolo on Sunday at 3pm – the same opponent that he faced when he last extended in July 2020, when it seemed certain that Ralf Rangnick would be arriving.

There is maximum trust between the parties and the management believe he could have a long-term stay on the Milan bench like Ferguson or Wenger, as per the report.
