GdS: Pioli has to field new-look right flank against Chelsea amid injury crisis

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s right hand side has been decimated leaving Stefano Pioli with some difficult decisions to make in view of the game against Chelsea on Wednesday night.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) are reporting this morning that Davide Calabria and Alexis Saelemaekers sustained injuries against Empoli that is likely to put a premature end to their 2022.

That means Pioli will have to deploy what is essentially a new right side in view of Wednesday’s Champions League match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge compared to the team that emerged victorious at the weekend.

Junior Messias is not expected to recover for the game due to a problem he picked up and so Rade Krunic is tipped to get the start as the right winger in what will be another new role for him.

The paper adds that the full-back will be Sergino Dest who is the natural replacement for Calabria in the squad at the moment.
