Pioli pleased Milan ‘kept cool’ as he explains second half tweaks – video

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli believes his side ‘kept their cool’ after going behind in last night’s 3-1 victory against Cagliari at the Unipol Domus.

After Zito Luvumbo put the home side 1-0 up in the first half when Milan had spurned a number of chances, there were fears that it could be another frustrating evening for the Rossoneri, but they answered back with goals from Noah Okafor, Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek to win.

Pioli was interviewed by Milan TV after the game to give his thoughts on another important win from a position of being a goal behind.

“It wasn’t simple, they closed us out well and took advantage of our naivety. So it could have got complicated, but we kept our cool and kept playing our way, we won a difficult match which gives us continuity,” he said.

“There are no new or old players, we’ve been working together for three months. We’ve made changes in recent games. In the short term you can take a hit, but in the long run you gain something. The important thing is to have strong, available players who keep the level high.”

On the substitutions: “I had to read the match, the second half Cagliari had put Luvumbo in the attacking midfield and he had a different pace. Adli and Musah did well, Reijnders is strong but he too will have to catch his breath.”

On Calabria: “He couldn’t play from the start, he’s better but I hoped to give him some playing time. We won this match with our football.”

    1. A, caps are for kids.. dont use caps.
B, we don’t play fast modern football because pioli is a coward. Or maybe we just lack quality, as people love to point out about krunic I’ll take it a step further and say that none of the players milan has would play in the top of the top clubs. Theo and Mike are the exceptions. The only 2.

        1. its the truth.
Do tell who would play at real 4 example. game in game out. Diaz is just a sub there, yet was a starter at Milan. Ke$$ie went to barca, just a sub there yet he was a starter for Milan

  2. Seriously?!

They kept their cool. Pioli did not. You could see it on his face and in his actions getting his “regulars” warming up.

Man, he is not a very good coach.

  3. Your tactics are mediocre you use individual skills rather than collective sacchi is right but I’m happy my team won but we don’t play good football period . ForzaMilan
