Pioli pleased with the addition of Messias: “He will give us a big hand”

Junior Messias was brought in by AC Milan on the final day of the summer window, much to the surprise of the fans. And one month later, the Brazilian is finally at Stefano Pioli’s disposal, which is a nice boost.

The 30-year-old took part in his first training session yesterday and also trained with the squad this morning. His condition is now deemed acceptable after it was far from ideal when he arrived, forced to train separately.

During today’s press conference, as cited by MilanNews, Pioli was asked about the addition of Messias and what this means for the team. He stated that the winger will come in handy throughout the course of the season, given his versatility.

“I see him well, he only did two training sessions with us. I liked it a lot, he knows how to stay on the pitch, he holds up the pressure, he has one-on-one skills. He can play well both on the right and even more inside, he can do well in several positions on the pitch. He’s a guy with quality, he’ll give us a big hand,” he stated.

It remains to be seen if he will get to make his debut for Milan in the game against Atalanta tomorrow. He will certainly start on the bench and a second-half appearance will depend on the looks of the game.
